Davis & DeRosa Physical Therapy services in El Segundo and Hermosa Beach

The Davis & DeRosa Physical Therapy services in El Segundo and Hermosa Beach are extensive. Our physical therapists are specially trained in helping to heal your sports injuries and prevent them from reoccurring.

Adults aged 25 and over sustain an estimated 3.2 million sports and recreation injuries annually. Recreational sports such as golf, tennis and soccer account for the highest category, followed by exercising and cycling.

More and more women are sustaining sports injuries as their participation in sports rises and their sports action becomes faster and more aggressive.

We offer hands-on therapy combined with modalities to reduce inflammation and alleviate pain.

There are some basic preventative actions you can take to keep injuries at bay.

  • Avoid bending your knees past 90 degrees when doing half knee bends.
  • Avoid twisting your knees by keeping your feet as flat as possible during stretches.
  • When jumping, land with your knees bent.
  • Do warm-up exercises before all activity, including golf, not just before vigorous exercises like running.
  • Don’t overdo it, no matter what your favorite exercise or sport is.
  • Do warm-up stretches before all activity. Stretch the Achilles tendon, hamstring and quadriceps areas and hold your positions. Don’t bounce.
  • Cool down following vigorous sports. For example, after a race, walk or walk/jog for five minutes to allow your pulse to come down gradually.
  • Wear properly fitting shoes that provide shock absorption and stability.
